Psychological issues – Can you self heal?

Mental healing requires time and application

for the mind to help the body, the mind has to be in good order ?

Mental healing offers a complex range of issues, the original problem often disabling the very mechanisms that might allow a patient to self heal. In one sense there truly is no “instant” solution. For example many patients tend to forget that a problem or issue that they have, may have taken months, or even years, to develop into a condition needing treatment. Its unlikely that this could be resolved in an afternoon.

A Survivor`s Brain

People who have been through major medical challenges often find their thinking priorities have changed. It is quite possible to become insular, self-centred or even less tolerant of other people. I am not attaching any blame here; if you have been in pain and in fear of your life, these feelings are completely understandable. In one sense this is nature’s way.

If you are a patient who has been faced with the challenges that a long-term condition can bring, you need to be aware of these tendencies and adjust accordingly. Elsewhere in this book, I mention getting out more, helping others or joining support sites. Any of which may help counter these tendencies. This section is also for friends, family or care givers. It’s very easy for a patient to fall into this “self-centred” island. The remedy is to get out more and challenge the brain.

Self Healing is a state of mind

The strategic turning point is where the patient decides that he or she really wants to get well – and will commit the thought and energy required to achieve this. Once this happens the pathway is set, recovery  and self healing can begin.

The solution for me was a combined approach of Mind and Body (physical and mental activity) applied on a daily basis. Its my view that for the mind to work properly, the body needs to be working well as well. The combination, over a period of time, improved the speed and quality of any of my thought processes. Interestingly as the thought process/capability improved, so did the mood/emotional responses.

In one sense because I was better, inwardly, I “felt” better too?

The course outlines the type of mental activities that should assist, and more importantly, how to adjust your lifestyle to incorporate them into day to day living.

Recovery is a state of mind…
